2nd Spoken Word and Speech Competition

Schedule:

• 12:00 - 12:30 Registration and light refreshments
• 12:30 - 1:30 Lobby area - guest speaker and writing of persuasive essays
• 12:30 - 1:30 Guided practice and presentation for spoken word contestants in the McMasters center.
• 1:30 - 3:00 Competition
• 3:00 - 3:30 Guest speaker
• 3:30 - 4:00 Awards Presentations

Contest Entry Categories:

1. Spoken Word (free form –student’s original work)
2. Spoken Word (recitation of published work)
3. Persuasive Speech

Eligibility requirements:

1. Each school is allowed to register 3 students per contest category. (This allows for a possibility of each school bringing 9 students to compete in the event.)
2. Schools will formulate their own method for choosing the students who will represent the school; however, to be eligible students need to be in 9^th – 12^th grade at the participating school.
