Horizon Science Academy of Lorain, 760 Tower Blvd., recently hosted its second annual Middle School Role Model Breakfast, a heartfelt event celebrating the individuals who impact the lives of its students, according to a news release.

This special occasion allowed students to express their gratitude by selecting a role model from their life and inviting them to a breakfast where they could honor and thank them in person.

The morning was filled with talks that underscored the importance of positive influences in the lives of students.

One particularly moving story came from an uncle who shared that he had driven all the way from Texas after receiving an invitation from his nephew.

He expressed how deeply honored he felt to be recognized as a role model, emphasizing the significance of the event for both the students and their role models.

“These are the types of memories Horizon Science Academy hopes families will take away from their time at the school, alongside the quality education provided,” the release said.

Middle School teacher Arnita Marn delivered an inspiring message about the power of role models, the release said.

“Being a role model is one of the most important forms of education,” Marn said. “You are teaching the next generation.

“We lead by example.”

This sentiment was echoed throughout the event, reinforcing the idea that role models play a crucial role in shaping the future of students, the release said.

The Role Model Breakfast has become a cherished tradition at Horizon Science Academy of Lorain, fostering a sense of community and strengthening the bond between students and their mentors, according to the release.

The school looks forward to continuing this event in the years to come, as it not only celebrates the achievements of the students but also recognizes the invaluable contributions of those who guide them along the way, the release said.

Horizon Science Academy of Lorain provides a college-prep curriculum to students in grades kindergarten through 12 with a high-quality academic and social environment focused on rigorous instruction and high student expectations, with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
